Client : Carborundum universal limited, Chennai. Carborundum Universal Limited is part of Murugappa group. It is one of the largest and oldest conglomerates. They are manufacturers of coated abrasives, bonded abrasives and abrasives for stones.
Brief of the project :Thermal Energy Audit was done on their rubber module section , canteen and all other applications requiring steam. Study was done from the steam generation point up to all application points and condensate return lines. Several changes inclusive optimized steam distribution design, installation of electronic traps with leak detectors were suggested.
Savings : Our energy audit and recommendation has helped them to save around 300 liters of furnace oil per day. Equivalent to INR 25 Lakhs of fuel savings per annum.
Customer Feed back / Remarks : Layout changes, implementation of electronic traps, leak detectors and data loggers has resulted in easy maintenance and monitoring of the entire steam distribution lines. These data loggers, leak detectors are very helpful in the maintenance of large steam distribution lines.
